Hotel was ideally situated to enable us to get around San Francisco - very central and close to Union Square and the cable car lines. The room also had everything we needed, although a bit basic it was all we expected for the money. However our room was facing onto Geary Street, which is an extremely busy street in terms of both people and traffic. The windows were paper thin and therefore the noise at night became unbearable (mainly due to vehicle traffic and drunks). We asked to move into a corridor room not facing the street but the receptionist was less than helpful and said this couldn't be done. We therefore spent our last night at a Hotel around the corner which was fantastic. So if you are looking for a budget hotel and don't mind sleepless nights stay at the Union Square Plaza. |

Very poor customer service. Fire alarm ripped off the wall, noisy pipes running through our room, no remote for T.V. When we complained about fire alarm he told us not to smoke in room - very indifferent attitude. We stayed in 6 hotels in America and this was by far the worst and the only one we complained about. |

This hotel is very centrally placed but as a result is bound to be noisy. It is also very tired in terms of decor and fittings, but provides a good basic accomodation. For some reason the hotel charged my credit card for the first night, a month ahead of my arrival although had no record of doing so (I was able to provide my card statement). The hotel resolved this speedily and with good grace but I was left wondering what would have happened if I hadn't had that proof.... |
