New Kent B&B Hotel

12 KNOWLE AVENUE, BLACKPOOL

The New Kent B&B Hotel in the North Shore of Blackpool provides one of the homelier, warmer and more hospitable family-run hotels situated in Blackpool. A quiet North-Shore location a stone’s throw from the beach. Although we are only a small hotel at 11 bedrooms, we are slowly garnering a reputation for the quality of our service and the intimacy of our atmosphere. We provide many cordial amenities such as a selection of morning newspapers and free wireless Internet connection. Our breakfast are certainly something to relish, consisting of generous helpings of thick-back bacon, Cumberland sausage, fried eggs, cereal, juices, melon, black-pudding, mushrooms and grilled tomatoes! The hotel is entirely en-suite, central heated and features tea & coffee making facilities in each room. Ideal for couples, families and conference delegates. Fantastic for romantic breaks, Easter, Christmas and New Year. No stag or hen parties please.

We had a few problems with our room on the first night but after speaking to Steve and Tony we were moved room to Room 6 for the second night. I know this room has had a bad review before but I must say apart from the size, which we were warned about before changing room, we had a very comfortable night in this room. On the plus side, the food was good and Steve and Tony were both very helpful. The hotel has only been taken over by them in the last year they are trying to upgrade the hotel and I would really like to go back maybe in a year or so to see how they get on the improvements they are planning. Very good value budget accomodation.

We recently stayed at the New Kent for one night, the purpose of the stay was a weekend break, and a change of scenary. The hotel is 2.5 miles from the tower, just to give you an idea of how far away from the centre it is. This suited us quite well, and we enjoyed the walk into Blackpool on Saturday morning, as it was a sunny day, but be aware that it is a quiet area of the town, and you will not be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, if that is what you want. The hotel was very clean, and the welcome was warm and friendly. Breakfast is an absolute treat, being a full English breakfast that will keep you going most of the day (well it did for us!) The only fault we found with the hotel was the size of our room, as it was very small, and the only window to see out of was tucked away in a tight corner, not really offering a view out at all. The double bed was squeezed in tightly, with no space to move around the room at all. We like to sit around the room, and relax a little, but this wasn't possible in our room, as there was nowhere to sit, other than on the bed. Be aware that room 6 is NOT a double room; it merely has a small double bed in it. I don't know what the other rooms are like, but our overall experience was tainted by the room we were staying in, which is a shame, as the rest of the boxes were ticked.
