The staff are very helpful and even put an extra bed in our room. This will be a fantastic hotel when it has had a lot of money spent on it. The location is good for shopping and the beach. There is a lot of work need doing and in a couple of years we may stay there again. |

Apparently this was once one of the best hotels in Torquay. Previous owners let the place get really run down and now the new owners are trying very hard to rectify the situation. Very cheap and OK for a short stay. Our room was very poor - mould all around the windows, paper peeling off the walls, the owners are aware of the situation, but we did feel that there was no excuse for a mould filled soap tray. The swimming pool was nice but the shower wasn't working which meant we couldn't shower off either before or after a swim. Breakfast was OK but on the second day we had to send the sausages back because they weren't properly cooked. We probably wouldn't stay there again - at least not for a year or so. Shame because the hotel has great potential to be really lovely. The main redeeming factor was the staff, who were really nice. |
