Quite difficult to find this hotel, not weel signposted. On drawing up the exterior reminded me of an old petrol station and it was quite clear the refurbishments were being undertaken. There was none at "reception" (an old office) when we arrived, so went to the bar, where the bartender summond someone to book us in. The room itself was a very pleasant surprise, very clean and recently refurbished to a high standard (fridge, flatscreen tv, kingsize bed, cotton sheets marble bathroom, air con), in fact it could quite easily have passed as a 4 star room. Just one small thing which let it down was lack of information in the room for how to use facilities, room service, restaurant times etc. On the whole I think that this hotel offers exceptional value for money and I will certainly be visiting again |

I couldn't praise the staff or the quality of the room enough. I was aware of the extensive refurbishment work prior to booking, therefore no suprises in store. Surely a guest wants a great room with a nice bar serving food, that's what you get. I'd have no problems recommending this hotel. It will be fantastic once all the work is done, a great place for business and leisure. |

From reading other reviews prior to booking we were aware that renovations were taking place in the public areas of the hotel. This did not detract from the warm and effficient welcome from the duty manager. The room was newly refurbished in a modern and chic style with top quality fittings and furnishings. We were able to book our evening meal in advance having discussed the menu with the bar manager who was also able to recommend wines. The food was superb, both in presentation and taste and championed local produce, and all freshly cooked.Portions left you room to indulge in the sharing platter of deserts, small portions of all the desserts offered on the main menu -sure to be a popular choice.Breakfast selection was excellant. When the other public areas are complete and outside issues addressed this hotel will be very desirable place to stay. I hope they invest in some landscaping to the garden to add value as a photographic setting for their wedding parties. |

The hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment. This is the reason for the lower ratings on cleanliness and Family Friendly. However throughout our stay the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and I am sure this excellent location will be well worth visiting when refurbishments are completed. |

The ongoing upgrade had reached reception and the only stairs to most of the hotel rooms were therefore blocked, this meant we were unable to have the room (Suite) that we booked and we were given a double with a discount and free wine. To reach the restaurant/bar you had to go outside but thankfully it was dry during our stay. The staff were friendly and attentive but the effects of the upgrade made it seem more of a ghost ship than an active hotel. I would like to return when the upgrade is complete as it has the potential to be a very good and welcoming hotel. |
