I've stayed here many times so that probably speaks for itself. I always enjoy it, always find the atmosphere relaxing, the staff helpful and friendly, the rooms invariably clean, the food of a high standard and the whole event a happy one. This time they had a wedding complete with disco but the tucked me away at the far end of the hotel so I didn't hear a thing, allowed me to eat restaurant food in the bar and generally made me feel that I was every bit as important as the 85 wedding guests.

Great value hotel with excelent public areas and restaurant. Only let down by small tired rooms but at the price paid I would recommend.

On arriving at the hotel, which looked like an over sized Guest house!.
We enquired about an evening meal, only to be told they didnt serve meals on a Sunday evening, but could make us a sandwich..
We declined and after asking, we were directed to the nearest public house, that did supply evening meals..
After our key was handed to us, we proceeded to the room, on route we encounted a very low door, through this door, looking like a storage cupboard, four chairs blocked the passage and two tables in front of the fire exit, on entering the room, the heating was on high, so we opened the window, the television was high on a shelf in the corner with no remote control (why was this not checked before).
The bathroom was clean, except for the shower gel left by the previous customer.
I proceeded to the reception regarding the remote control ,to be told oops sorry, would you like another room, that has a remote, i looked at the other room, which was at the end of a rabbit warren, turns and plenty of stairs, of which was a little smaller, I decided to stay in the first room, as it had easy access to the reception.
We used this hotel as we were flying from Liverpool airport the next morning and thought it would be a good idea to stay close by and get a good evenings sleep rather then an early rise and a long car journey the following morning..How wrong was we !!
On retiring to bed around 22.00 hours we were woken by a sound of a large extractor fan, so closed the window, which muffled the sound, after dozing off, we encouted a vibrating motion within the room, that ending up shaking the trouser press, so hard against the wall, the noise was coming from an industrial laundry machine...After enduring this for over 15 minutes and unable to sleep. My wife was forced to dress and go to reception to ask if our room, was over a laundry service..I was informed by the duty manager that we were above the kitchen, although when the night porter was sent to find out what the noise was it was discovered to be a commercial washing machine..
After we again retired to bed we found it was another hour before we could eventually get to sleep..Due to the fan again.
Needless to say this was long after midnight, and we had to be up and ready for breakfast by 7am.
My wife could not eat the Breakfast, as she was still tired, with lack of rest..
Not the good nights sleep we were expecting and no appology or enquiry the next morning..
Needless to say we arrived at the airport, no more refreshed than if we had stayed the night at home and travelled early the following morning..
Very dissapointed and tired
And await some recompense

Lovely hotel and staff were very friendly. Agree with previous reviews that the hotel is in need of refurbishment but by no means desperately. Main problem for me was the noise from other rooms. I asked for a quiet room as I had read the reviews from others and was told that there was no-one either side of me at the time that I booked. Unfortunately for me the rooms became occupied and I listened to the bloke snoring next door for most of the night.
