Our experience of the Burythorpe was very positive. We stayed in a superior room which was sumptuously appointed and was well looked after during our stay. It is obvious that a lot of money and effort has been spent on making the hotel worthy of its room charges, which I believe has more than adequately been achieved. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food in the restaurant offers the best value for money I have ever experienced; the menu is well thought out and the exectuino of dishes can only be described as fantastic. The relationship with the local pub, the Bay Horse, was also useful in that you could charge your drinks and meals to your room (again, the food on offer at the Bay Horse was of a high standard). The only criticism I would have is that at times it appeared that the front of house staff was under strength (there only seemed to be one person available at any given time) and that breakfast, whilst very generously and of good quality, was a little inconsistent in terms of what you got on your plate. |

Beautiful hotel we stayed in 2 different rooms over 3 nights dinner, bed & breakfast. Both rooms were beautifully furnished, great beds and quality finishings. Although the hotel has been refurbished by designers they missed out on some little annoying details such as no where to put soap, shower gel etc either in the shower or the bath. The unusual light fixtures in 1 of the bedrooms were of no use if you wanted to read in bed and you had to get out of bed to switch off. Silly little things I know but still annoying, but please don't let this put you off from visiting if you want a quiet few days away. |
