Gwesty Fairy Falls Hotel

Conway Road, Trefriw

Situated in Trefriw in the Snowdonia National Park is the intriguingly titled Fairy Falls Hotel. A popular local inn with residents keen to enjoy an impressive range of real ales as well as the facilities of the function suite for group events and celebrations, the Fairy Falls Hotel has a natural lure for tourists to this region of impressive natural beauty in the form of six attractive en-suite guest bedrooms. Quiet and detached from the main building, three of these rooms have the further advantage of being situated at ground floor level.
The inn is open daily between 12 noon and 11.00pm (10.30pm on Sundays) and the well stocked bar includes a range of real ales such as Brains SA, Flowers IPA and occasional guest ales. Meals are served in the beamed Cottage Restaurant between 12.30pm and 2.30pm and between 6.00pm and 9.00pm when grills and daily specials are served in addition to Table d’hôte and a la carte menus. A carvery is available on Sundays between 12 noon and 3.00pm and food and drink may be enjoyed either in the restaurant, in the bar or seated at the riverside tables outside. Locally sourced produce and fresh local vegetables are well evidenced in their preparation of meals for your delight.
Guests staying at the Fairy Falls Hotel will be impressed by the standard of their en-suite rooms which include colour television, beverage making facilities and central heating. In a detached motel style block, three of these rooms are at ground floor level and the remaining rooms have balustrades. With just six in total, advance booking is advised if at all possible.
The Geirionnydd Restaurant and Function Suite is the icing on the (fairy) cake at the Fairy Falls Hotel and with a music and dance licence and a capacity of up to 120, this self contained area is a popular venue locally for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements etc.
Your visit to this area of incredible natural beauty will only be enhanced further by your stay at the Fairy Falls Hotel.

Nicely located hotel Room was basic, but for £30 including breakfast, you wouldn't expect more.

The hotel is located in a beautiful setting and the chalet style accommodation was ideal for our needs. Really comfy bed and clean rooms. Refreshments were topped up and towels changed during our stay. The hotel is ideally located for walking the Trefrew Trails, which start 100 yards from the hotel, and for cycling in the Conwy valley. Everyone was really friendly and the food was excellent, large English breakfasts and a good choice of afternoon and evening meals were on offer. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was ideal for our family 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 & 11 years, very clean and a good size. The food was excellent value and of a high standard in the restaurant in the evening and they provide a childrens menu. The breakfasts were wonderful and they accomodated the childrens requests for variations with their breakfasts. The hotel is ideally based for walking/sightseeing holidays and they provide an excellent packed lunch on request.
The staff are friendly and helpful. We would like to return again!!

The main reason I would stay there again (or recommend it to a friend) would be because of the location. There are beautiful walks nearby, either up to see the falls or along the "cobs" or earthwork flood defences that run either side of the river.
As for the accommodation it was adequate and clean but could do with a refurb. I didn't eat dinner in the pub because the chef had cut his finger and was therefore unable to offer food that evening. I went to The Ship, another pub a short distance up the street. The food was ok and the service was adequately friendly.
After another walk along the cobs the following morning, I ate breakfast in the pub (they start serving at 8am). I must have been the only guest the previous night (at least I saw nobody else at breakfast) and it seemed an inconvenience for the man to greet me or exchange in any sort of pleasantry. The lady was better but the general impression I got was that both would have preferred to stay in bed, which I suppose is fair enough. On the other hand, I'm paying for the service and they should try harder for the sake of the punter.
