The owner made us feel very welcome and was very helpful, we would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

The hotel had double booked the room we had booked, so we had to stay in 2 seperate rooms instead of the one family room. The food was slow to come out and was cold on arrival (breakfast). And were charged an extra for the miss booking on their part for the breakfast.
Service was on the slow side at dinner.
Comfortable rooms and bathrooms.

This hotel was a big disappointment having read some of the former reviews.
We were met by Mr grumpy who hardly spoke. The room was passable, but the bathroom could have done with a clean - cobwebs and sticky bath and dirty skirting boards. The bed was comfortable and clean .
We had an evening meal which was ok. The waitresses were very attentive. The chef was the same man who greeted us.
The breakfast was a disaster. There were limited cereals, orange juice only, and what was called a full breakfast was only lukewarm and not very full. There were half a dozen tables mostly left uncleared, and we were told that we would have to settle for a cup of tea or coffee each because they had run out of coffee and tea pots. We then had to go across the yard to the kitchen to find someone to fetch us a second cup of tea and coffee. This is the first laterooms hotel where we have had such a dismal breakfast.
The problem is obviously lack of cleaning staff and someone to tend tables and wash up.
The owner seems to be the chef and not too happy in his job.

Bar and restaurant was busy for a Thursday and therefore they were under-staffed, however, the barmaid/waitress more than made up for it with her unfaltering smile and constant apologies (to be honest, we didn't have to wait long anyway). Really nice old school pub, good food and lovely rooms.

Good family room, although I felt it could have been cleaner. The breakfast was fine although the service could have been better, we had to ask for toast, milk etc. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
