Prestonfield

Priestfield Road, Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s most talked-about hotel and the only one in the city to receive the AA’s highest accolade of 5 RED STARS. Prestonfield was also awarded the AA's HOTEL OF THE YEAR 2005 for Scotland and Northern Ireland. The latest hotel from creator of the famed Witchery by the Castle, James Thomson. His uniquely quirky and luxurious reworking of this a baroque mansion - originally built as the imposing home of Edinburgh’s Lord Provost - has created an exceptionally indulgent hotel experience just a few moments from the bustle of the Royal Mile.

Guests will discover every modern convenience – from WiFi to plasma screens – hidden behind the velvet and silk upholstered walls of its 22 individually designed boudoir-like rooms and suites. Thomson’s trademark bordello-chic style combines the wonderful antique contents of the house, tapestries, artwork and antiques with specially commissioned furniture, exceptionally indulgent décor and possibly the most flattering lighting ever! The fun and witty style encourages enjoyment of all that the hotel has to offer - relaxation, fun and maybe just a little bad behaviour?

Prestonfield may just have just 22 rooms, but there is a lot of hotel to enjoy alongside its destination restaurant, Rhubarb – named after the plant that was first grown here in the eighteenth-century. Facilities include; a fun whisky bar – all deep sofas and antler furniture, cocktails have rarely tasted better than when enjoyed in the chic Yellow Room whilst the Leather and Tapestry Rooms offer a wonderful hideaway with log fires roar. A collection of private Dining Rooms – the panelled Italian Room, bold red and black Stuart Room or elegant chinoiserie Garden Room ensure that Prestonfield is perfect for celebrations. There is even a tiny romantic opera-box of a private dining room for two – the Salon Privee!

Prestonfield’s discrete location in Royal Holyrood Park (think Central Park moved to Edinburgh) makes it an indulgent hideaway with gardens, terraces and golf course all on hand and Edinburgh’s cultural and retail delights just moments away.

As elite guide Mr & Mrs Smith put it “Prestonfield - VIP treatment without the A-list price tag. Opulence has never been so affordable.”

A luxurious comfortable hotel in a quiet location near the centre of Edinburgh. All the staff were very attentive and courteous. The dining experience was also first class and all round it was a most enjoyable few days.

My husband and I booked Prestonfield for 2 noghts stay in August. The hotel itself is lovely and certainly unique due to the park with peacocks! Having champagne on ice and n the room on arrival was a nice touch..
We had dinner in the Rhubarb restaurant. The meal was nice. Breakfast was copious with a large selection of continental and cooked stuff to order.
all the staff here are friendly in fact allowed us to make the most of our first stay in this beautiful city. Our room was great
Worth a visit! And as for me I hope to come again
