Breakfast is self service from a buffet and as always the fried eggs were case hardened. They could and should do better. |

We chose this hotel specifically because we were hosting a dinner at the adjacent National Liberal Club. Initially, the price quoted had been way too high, but by the day of the event it had gone down to £140 for a superior room, so we booked. On arrival, there was some delay to checking in because of the lateness of our booking, but we were given a complimentary upgrade to an absolutely gorgeous room. Very large, with absolutely every mod con and luxury you could wish for. The bathroom was fabulous - a proper, separate shower cubicle (so rare!) and even a flat screen tv built into the wall at the end of the bath. Amazing value for a very nice hotel in a superb location. |

The hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment. We booked a standard double room. At check in we were offered a choice of upgrades: a refurbished room without a view; a refurbished room with a view across the Thames; a non refurbished room with a view over the Thames; at various different costs. The staff were happy to show us the different rooms before we decided. We went for the unrefurbished with a view as this had the best view. My point in this is that the hotel website only shows pictures of the refurbished rooms and it appears that you are automatically booked into an unrefurbished room then offered an upgrade at extra cost. To be honest the room was rather 'tired' especially compared to the refurbished rooms, but was still more than adequate, was comfortable and suited our purposes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for sightseeing, just about everything is within walking distance. |
