Gwesty Minffordd Hotel

Tal Y Llyn, Tywyn

The Minffordd Hotel in Talyllyn valley, Mid Wales is set in probably the most breathtaking scenery in Britain and is literally situated at the base of the Cader Idris with the summit being 1 1/2 miles NW of the hotel. The original parts of the building are over 400 years old so as you Would expect the walls are very thick and there are plenty of originally features such as the original wood beams which can be seen throughout the building and our log fire which is a key feature during the winter months We have 2 lounges available for guest to relax in at any time of the day maybe after dinner with a glass or two of your favorite drink from our extensively well stocked bar. Our restaurant seats a maximum of twenty people for dinner therefore reservations are essential to guarantee you a table especially at weekends.Breakfast is also served here with a selection of fresh fruit, cereals & fruit juices, full breakfast’s are cooked freshly to order. Darren our resident chef worked with Michelle for 7 years prior to moving to Minffordd You may not see much of Darren during your stay as he is usually busy in his kitchen preparing for Dinner. We guarantee you will enjoy all our freshly prepared food he produces, 99% of items which appear on our Menu are made on the premises on our 50 year old Aga from Starters to Desserts, Soup to Sauces. Our Menu changes daily for residents with choices at each stage, if you have specific dietary requirements or maybe a personal preference please let us know then we can adjust the menu to suit you.
A Relaxed, friendly & Warm welcome awaits you here at the Minffordd Hotel from Your hosts Gordon & Michelle we took over the ownership of Minffordd in March 2001.Staying at Minffordd is like staying at home but much more relaxing without any work to do you can simply relax and enjoy your stay in our informal and friendly atmosphere we try to create, we want you to treat Minffordd like it you home and feel free to come and go when you please. We are always available for a chat or to help you make your mind up of how you will spend your day. You can always be sure of a true Friendly and Northern welcome here at Minffordd in the beautiful Talyllyn Valley,
We have our own natural water well providing the hotel& all bedrooms with natural welsh spring water.............!!
As we are situated at the base of Cader Idris we are in an ideal location for walkers & visitors to the mountain, the Minffordd path starts a short 5 minutes walk from our front door. It seems like the mountain is in our garden. We have drying facilities for wet clothing if needed.

owner very friendly but this is not worth £90 a night especially as not even a television in your room. Lovely setting and scenery however

The Hotel was very good but we felt that the owner was too attentive and would not leave you in peace. He wanted to talk to you all the time. You could not use the lounge in the evening without him jooining you to chat. He woul even expect to speak to you whilst eating your meal
