This place seems to be an annexe of another adjacent hotel (can't remember its name), which houses the restaurant/bar. My room was a good size very clean, looked newly refurbished to a high standard, with a lovely bathroom and a small TV. However, I needed Wi-Fi access which was advertised on the website, but was not available in that room, so they moved me to another room in the main building with the minimum of fuss. This was an even nicer room with a (small) flatscreen digital TV, very comfy bed and was very quiet (1st floor, rear), and Wi-Fi was fast and FREE.
I had a light supper in the nice-looking restaurant, which was above average, though not cheap, but was spoiled by a rather loud group of young men obviously embarking on a raucous evening (hence the low family-friendly score, which might be unfair; one of the other guests had 2 kids with her). Only had continental breakfast, which was good, but suspect the full english was also good (smelled and looked great on fellow guest's plate).
A little out of town but only 20mins bus ride during rush hour (although about £7-8 by taxi). Excellent service from the helpful, friendly staff (even when I arrived tired and in a bad mood and got a bit lairy about the Wi-Fi), and at under £40 a night, a real bargain. Highly recommended.
