The Old School House is only a small bed and breakfast but couldn't fault it in any way. It is ideally situated on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon but close enough to Cornwall to spend the day there. We received a very warm welcome, the room was excellent and breakfast was superb. Would certainly go back for another visit.

My girlfriend and myself stayed here for one night as a stop off before we moved onto Paignton but had we known how good this establishment was earlier we would have stayed over for longer. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and a bonus was a fridge in the room with proper milk (not the uht stuff) if we wanted to have a cup of tea.
We were offered a very comprehensive choice of dvds if we wanted to watch them on the dvd player in our room at night and there was a sitting room downstairs where we had a nice chat with our hosts. We were also given very helpful information on places to eat locally and the various attractions thereabouts.
Breakfast the next morning was plentiful for what we needed and set us up for the day. The building itself had a very homely feel to it and I would recommend a stay here to anyone especially if you are looking for something a bit special.
Thanks for a very enjoyable stay. We hope to be back soon.

On the whole a very well finished and furnished self-contained annex to the Old School Guest House. It has a homely feel to it (in a rather "Homes & Gardens" sort of way).
The fact that it is a converted school building adds character to the accommodation, but also means that there are some compromises, eg having the shower and toilet downstairs and having glazed bedroom doors to maximise light to both bedrooms (one of which has otherwise only a velux window).
Horrabridge is a quiet village, convenient for forays into Cornwall, but especially for Devon and Dartmoor in particular.
The owners, Maxine & Chris, were very welcoming when we arrived, but then were unobtrusive for the rest of our stay - which was just as we wanted it to be.
As expected for the area mobile phone signal in the building was poor on several networks (although connections were possible out of doors).
The "Family Friendly" mark above I think reflects more the expected clientele than anything else (although there is a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs suggesting that the possibility of young children has been considered). It was absolutely fine with teenagers (perhaps with the exception of WiFi internet access).
