Oban Hotel

Friendly service and very good location on the seafront. I had assumed (perhaps naively) that for a hotel advertising a seafront location the room would have a seaview - but the room faced the back of the hotel. Room was OK but a bit dated. Friendly and helpful service at Reception and for breakfast. Iron & hairdryer available from Reception. Noisy music / entertainment from the bar could be heard clearly in our room, which could have been annoying if we had decided to stay in for the evening. Good breakfast served. I did wonder if a bed & breakfast would have provided better value for money, although unlikely to have such a good location.

The hotel is "tired".
One of our rooms (at the front of the hotel) did not have double glazing and there was therefore excessive noise from vehicles and people and consequently we did not sleep very well.
The mattresses on all the beds appeared to be of inferior quality.
The curtains in both rooms were so thin that they were not worth closing - blackout lining is required.
We only stayed for B& B. The breakfast was adequte but little choice.
This hotel is not suitable for families with young children as no entertainment. There is insufficient seating in the lounge/bar area.
The hotel is not suitable for disabled people eg only access via steps.
There is ample parking outside the hotel and it is ideally positioned for the Wish Tower and Promenade
