I think the only negative point with the hotel is its location. Although it s not very far from the city center, it can still be a long way when you're on foot with suitcases! (You obviously still can take a taxi). Buses nevertheless stop at the bottom of the (steep) hotel street. Then expect a good 8 to 10 mns up to the hotel.
The hotel itself is great, located in a quiet spot overlooking the town; it was a bit of a luxury break in our tour of the country. Staff at reception were friendly and professional. We wanted to leave our luggage after ckecking out and although we had a (flexible) time limit to come and pick them up, we were still able to do so. It was a bit of a shame for a four-star that the bar/kitchen did not provide with late snacks/sandwiches (that would have been appreciated) but we could still buy some nuts and else.
The room itself was large, clean and tastefully decorated. The views from our room and the bar/restaurant were awsome. If you stay long enough, you can really enjoy some of the hotel facilities (pool, gym, sauna...) and by the end of our stay, we really regretted having to leave. The last good surprise was the buffet breakfast where you had the choice of formulas. The food was varied and very good. Recommended.

A very good hotel, I get a room for only £35 a noght per person. There were 7 of us travelled to the hotel, and everyone found the eperience very enjoyable. The rooms were excellent, and the general setting very good. We got the use of the hotels leisure facilities such as the pool and the sauna etc, which were tremendous.
The hotel is fairly central to everything in Cork, and makes the actual city very accessible.
The staff were helpful and efficient. There was a decent breakfast put on, which again was reasonably priced at either 8 euro or 12 euro.
I think, ceetainly based on some of the other hotels I have stayed in, that one would have to go a hell of a distance to get better valus for money.
The stay was extremely enjoyable overall.

The Montenotte Hotel is not in the heart of Cork but we had a hire car. The room was very comfortable.
