There are better places to stay in Bolton. The place was very outdated in terms of decoration and was overpriced for what I got. I think I paid £50 (it was a while ago) for a double including breakfast for one night. Could stay in Manchester cheaper and get a better room. Cant comment on the breakfast as I was too hungover to even bother getting out of bed that morning! But I was a little annoyed when I arrived. I booked a room for 1 person but they only had a twin so they allocated me that room at the same price as a single- great. But when they discovered that my friend would be in my room for about 2 hrs in the evening to get ready with me to go out they didnt like it and decided that I needed to pay for a double room- when she wasnt even going to sleep there! Annoying but ok if its their policy. But I was most annoyed that I was then allocated exactlly the same room. So what exactlly did I pay extra for? I didnt get a bigger room out of it. Just because my friend wanted to start a night out in my room with me! She stayed the night in the end so that we could at least make the most of what we paid for. |

Broomfield House is very convenient to access from the M61, you can't miss it as you drive down Wigan Rd. Do not follow the directions on the Laterooms site as they are very confusing, just go down Wigan Rd. towards Bolton, it is on your right. |

Hosts Chris and Fleur were friendly and helpful. Broomfield House was pleasant, comfortable, and reasonably quiet inside, although there was a lot of traffic noise from the busy road from 5 AM to midnight most days. The water temperature in the shower varied considerably and suddenly. Breakfast was excellent. Downtown Bolton is a convenient 15-20 minute walk, or there are frequent buses too. There are no restaurants (nor pubs that serve food in the evenings) nearby, but a nearby Tesco convenience store is handy for in room meals. Overall a very good choice for vacationing Americans who are stunned by the current exchange rate. |

For the price- £44 single - this was poor value- though the room was clean enough the breakfast was very poor...tinned mushrooms have no taste, tinned tomatoes, no wholemeal bread or even brown avaiable. |
