Designed by renowned golf architect Joseph Lee, the 6,822 yard San Lorenzo Golf Course is widely considered to be the finest in Portugal, and one of the best courses in Europe. Set in the Ria Formosa nature reserve, it features large, fast greens with fairways that wind their way through thick pine forest. There are also plenty of holes right on the coast meaning that the course offers a very diverse selection of challenges and views, pine woods, lakes, lagoons, the ocean, classic villas, and the distant hills dotted with whitewashed houses are all within sight at various points throughout the round. San Lorenzo is famed for its numerous spectacular holes, which include the daunting 18th, with a semi-island green, it is one of the best finishing holes around.
